Geography Printables & Learning Activities for Middle School - Education Possible

Many parents don’t feel equipped to teach Geography – often they find the topic too broad or too boring. We happen to believe that teaching Geography for middle school students is not only easy but also a lot of fun!

In the global-minded world we live it, Geography is one of the most crucial topics for children to understand. The study of the earth, its structure, and its inhabitants informs just about everything we do every day.North Star Geography

The study of Geography includes 3 major categories:

Geography skills – including map reading, using tools like compasses and atlases, and understanding navigation and cartography.

Physical geography – similar to earth science, this includes geology, meteorology, oceanography, ecology, and astronomy.

Human geography – we can understand how people relate to their location and environment by learning about sociology, culture, religion, transportations, agriculture, and economics.

A great way to get middle school students interested in geography is to continue offering hands-on learning opportunities. They love asking “why” questions and finding answers for themselves through trial and error.

Parents and Teachers, we hope you will use this list for inspiration and find many ways to add interesting activities to your child’s lessons.

As a veteran educator I am always looking for new ways to bring learning to life for my family. I enjoy traveling, sharing ideas with other moms, and helping my children explore the world around them. We have been homeschooling for more than a decade and are now entering the final stretch of our homeschool journey with two teens in high school.
