It’s time to kick off another school year here at Finishing Strong. If you’re one of our amazing and dedicated readers, welcome back! If you’re new to Finishing Strong, we’re glad you’ve found us. Every Wednesday we host this link up and it’s all about homeschooling middle school & high school.
This school year, I am once again working with my friends Heather from Blog She Wrote, Eva from EvaVarga, and Heidi from Starts at Eight. Make sure to head over to their sites to see what they’ve been up to this summer.

Summer was busier than normal for our family. Between camps, hanging out with friends, and youth group activities, my teens were constantly moving. It’s the first year we didn’t homeschool during June and July because there weren’t enough free days to make it worthwhile. To be honest, it was kind of strange.
Now, we’re just about to start our “official” school year and I’m excited to get back into a routine. The girls have some cool curriculum and classes that should help make it an enjoyable year.
I get a lot of questions about middle school curriculum, so I’ve decided to share what we will be using for each grade. I’ve begun with our 8th grade curriculum choices.
I’m excited about the literature based history program Marianna will be using to study the Middle Ages. She used this curriculum for 7th grade history and it caused a 180 degree change in her attitude toward this subject, so I knew we’d stick with it this year. So what’s Marianna most looking forward to? That has to be her cake decorating class.
Have you finished your back to school shopping yet? Every year, I’m thankful that I don’t have to adhere to the long, strict lists that traditional school families have to follow. And since I’m not required to spend a ton of money on more practical things, I always have room in my budget to buy some fun school supplies for my teens.
My girls can’t wait to see what unique tools I grab for them this year.
I hope you’ve been having a wonderful summer and are ready to jump back into your homeschooling schedule.
