$0.99

As a part of your middle school geography lessons, download this printable to teach your children how to make a compass using materials found around the house.

Description

How do you find out which direction is north? With a compass!

As a part of your middle school geography lessons, teach your children how to make a compass using materials found around the house. They can use it to determine “north” using magnetic declination (the difference between geographic north and magnetic north).

Since every map has a compass rose, you’re bound to come across plenty of compass rose activities during your geography studies. Making a homemade compass is an excellent hands-on activity your older kids can do to get familiar with this common tool.

This printable will walk your teens through the process of creating a compass and help them learn the terminology associated with the compass rose (ordinal directions).
