Life Skills

I believe that one of the most important life skills we need to intentionally teach our children is the basics of personal finance. Teaching teens how to handle money is essential for them to become successful, independent adults. Check out things we are doing in our family to make sure our teens understand the value of financial literacy. #lifeskills #personalfinance #parenting #moneytips #teens #tweens #middleschool #educationpossible

5 Important Personal Finance Fundamentals Teens Need to Know

When we talk about life skills with our teens we mean all of the things that will help to make them successful and independent adults. Most of the skills teens need to learn are things that we, as adults, do every day. Activities such as preparing lunch or doing laundry have become so routine we usually do them without even thinking about them. As parents we can help to teach our teens life skills by being mindful of the daily life lessons we complete each day and actively involving our teens.

Teaching Teens Life Skills – No Curriculum Required

Sewing is one of the life skills I want my girls to master, so I'm always looking for teen DIY projects they'll enjoy creating. My middle schooler loves Minecraft, so I knew these cute Minecraft stuffies would be a huge hit. It's a simple sewing project that's perfect for older kids. If you're teaching your teens how to sew, give these blocks a try, especially if they are a Minecraft fan. #learntosew #easysewingproject #diyforteens #minecraft #middleschool #tweens #teens #educationpossible

It's important to get your middle school kids comfortable cooking on their own because it's an essential life skill they'll need before they move out. A great place to start is by having them help prepare holiday meals or a simple breakfast recipe. When teens find recipes they enjoy making (and eating) they can begin collecting them to make their own personal DIY Cookbook. They'll have all of their childhood favorites in one place. #lifeskills #tweens #teens #teencooking #educationpossible

5 Personal Growth Books Appropriate for Tweens & Teens To start off the 2016 Reading Adventure, I've decided to start off with personal growth. As adults, we’re very familiar with the personal growth/personal improvement genre, but we don’t always think about it for our kids. But they’re trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in too. It’s important that we constantly inspire and encourage our middle school kids during their journey.

Personal Growth Books That Will Motivate Teens

Giving is an important life skill for teens to learn. Most teens can't wait to volunteer. Middle school is the perfect time to teach them that they can make a difference in the world. I've shared a variety of ideas you and your teen can use to give back to your community. Even if they're still not old enough to volunteer in person, there are still many ways that kids can support a cause they believe in.
