The beach is an amazing place for learning. You can easily use it as the focus when you’re teaching science, math, language arts and more.

This printable includes 18 different beach-themed activities that are perfect for homeschoolers or families who want to do some learning over summer break.

While you can do some of them at home, it’s the perfect opportunity to visit the coast and take advantage of the beach environment.

It’s a great way to dig deeper into sea life, but still leave plenty of time for other fun beach day activities.

So, the next time you’re at the ocean, pull out this printable and choose a fun activity or two to do with your tweens and teens during the day.

What are the Educational Benefits of Going to the Beach?

There are a ton of different things older kids can learn while at the beach.

Fun things like observing marine life, studying the waves and tides, checking out tidepools, watching shore birds, and exploring local plants. Maybe you can explore a coral reef or go shelling at low tide.

I’ve taught my older children subjects like marine biology, nature, climate change, and conservation during our visits.

A trip to the coast is the perfect way to step outside of your lesson plans and let kids explore. It gives them the chance to think in a different and creative way.

It’s also an amazing opportunity for your kids to get outside for some fresh air and exercise.

The seashore offers many awesome learning options for kids of all ages. There’s always something new and exciting to discover. But if you want to focus on some homeschooling while you’re there, make sure to do a bit of planning.

This free list of hands-on activities will make a great addition to your summer homeschool plan. You can download it below.

Just choose one or two of these good books about ocean animals and the beach and read them alongside the fun activities in this printable pdf.
